Trump told reporters at the White House that military action had been about to begin. "I was an hour away. We were all set to go... it would have been happening right now,\" Trump said. Trump added that callers urged a short delay. \"They said, Sir, could you give us a couple more days because we think theyre being reasonable,\" Trump said.

Trump said the outreach came after interlocutors learned a decision had been taken. Trump said the same parties had called across the last two days. Trump said those negotiators reported progress with Iran. Trump described the effort as a group approach. \"Were all working together. Its like a team,\" Trump said.

Trump listed the states involved in the contacts around Iran. Trump said they included Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE and Kuwait. Trump also mentioned Bahrain, but said it had a smaller role. Trump said the US side was engaged directly. Trump said the regional states were also speaking with Iran.

Trump said Iran was being given a limited window to reach an agreement. Trump said the deadline was tied to nuclear risk. Trump said the discussion would have shifted to conflict if attacks had begun. \"We would probably not be talking about a beautiful ballroom today.\"
