White House press secretary: Trump says he offered the role to UFC President Dana White

Donald Trump said he offered UFC President Dana White the job of White House press secretary in a social media post shared while Trump was in Florida. The White House did not immediately confirm the claim, and UFC did not promptly comment. White shared an image of the post on Instagram while in London.

President Donald Trump said on Saturday that Trump had offered Dana White the role of White House press secretary. Trump shared the claim on social media from a Florida golf club. No White House official immediately confirmed the message. The announcement came as Trump’s administration faced staff changes and political setbacks.

Trump offers Dana White press role

Trump wrote that Trump made the offer to the "Great Dana White, a violent Fighter and Warrior\" as chief spokesperson. Trump also said Trump wanted several UFC fighters as assistants. \"We need these people to defend us against the Lunatic Left. Dana will be a Press Secretary like none other. Dana, please take the job!\"

Trump White House press secretary post remains unfilled

The White House did not reply on Saturday to messages about the Truth Social post. White was in London on Saturday for a boxing event. A UFC spokesperson also did not respond to requests for comment. The press secretary role had been empty since Karoline Leavitt left at the end of August.

Trump’s post followed a brief trial run with a new press secretary, Katie Zacharia. Zacharia appeared once before reporters and seemed uneasy during the session. Zacharia then left the position after five days. Trump has continued without a chief spokesperson since Leavitt’s departure.

Trump White House press secretary talk follows election losses and staff changes

The staffing turmoil came during a wider transition inside Trump’s White House. Trump’s party suffered major losses in Tuesday’s midterm elections. Democratic candidates won in places Republicans had held for decades. Those results led the GOP to lose control of both chambers of Congress.

Trump also announced changes at the top of the administration on Friday. Trump said Trump was replacing longtime adviser Susie Wiles with aide Stephen Miller as the next chief of staff. Wiles was viewed as a moderating presence. Miller is linked to hard-line immigration policies and is a key loyalist.

Trump White House press secretary offer highlights Trump ties with Dana White

Trump and White have remained close friends in recent years. Trump attended several UFC events with White after returning to the White House in January 2025. Trump also brought White and the sport to the South Lawn in June. The event marked America’s 250th independence year and Trump’s 80th birthday.

A wire-mesh Octagon was built near the executive mansion for that June celebration. It sat under \"The Claw", a metal arch with lights, sound gear, and big screens. "It was an amazing experience, this was a one-of-one, said White afterward.\" White also spoke at Republican National Conventions in 2016, 2020 and 2024.

White later shared Trump’s post on Instagram, alongside another image. The second image showed White behind the podium in the briefing room. It included the words \"On to the next chapter.\" With no confirmation from the White House, it remained unclear whether White accepted the offer.
