Great American State Fair: Trump to Open Americas 250th Anniversary Event
Organisers of the Great American State Fair on Washington’s National Mall say President Donald Trump will kick off the America’s 250th anniversary celebration after several music acts withdrew. Freedom 250 said the fair will run from June 25 to July 10 with exhibits, family-friendly attractions, performances, and flyovers, while a date detail remains unclear.
Organisers of The Great American State Fair said President Donald Trump is set to headline the event. The fair is linked to America’s 250th anniversary celebrations. The plan followed several musicians pulling out in recent days. The organisers made the announcement on Saturday, as debate continued online about the fair’s tone.

Freedom 250, the group running the June fair on Washingtons National Mall, confirmed the appearance in a statement. The group wrote, "we are excited to announce that President Trump will personally kick off this historic celebration on Wednesday, June 24.\" Trumps own posts also mentioned a Wednesday rally. The White House did not immediately address the date mismatch.
Trump and The Great American State Fair schedule
Danielle Alvarez, a spokesperson for Freedom 250, said the wider programme runs from June 25 through July 10. Alvarez said the fair includes exhibits, family friendly attractions, flyovers and more. The schedule also lists musical acts and other performances. Organisers have described the overall event as a national celebration on the National Mall.
In a post on Truth Social on Saturday, Trump commented on the withdrawals. Trump wrote, \"I understand Artists are getting the yips having to do with their performance,\" and criticised the departing acts. Trump added that Trump was considering booking \"the man who some say is the Greatest President in History THE GOAT!, DONALD J. TRUMP,\" instead.
Artists and The Great American State Fair withdrawals
Several performers left the line-up last week, including Bret Michaels, the Commodores and Martina McBride. Michaels and others said they were misled about the shows’ theme. Some also said they did not want to be drawn into a political dispute. McBride said on Instagram that a nonpartisan offer \"turned out to be misleading.\"
Freedom 250 has described itself as nonpartisan. However, the group was launched last year by Trump. It is led by a former State Department appointee from Trumps first term. The fair’s ties to Trump were cited as a factor in some performers’ decisions. The organisers have continued to promote the event as a broad public celebration.
Trump and The Great American State Fair rally comments
Trump later suggested a different approach if musicians keep leaving. Trump wrote, \"Cancel it. We should have a giant MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN RALLY, for 250, instead of having overpriced singers, who nobody wants to hear, whose music is boring, and yet who do nothing but complain,\" in another social media post. Trumps earlier post also referenced holding a rally on Wednesday, without a date.
Despite the withdrawals, other entertainers still plan to appear. The remaining list includes Flo Rida, Fab Morvan of Milli Vanilli and Vanilla Ice. Vanilla Ice’s representative had earlier said the performer was proud to help celebrate Americas 250th Anniversary. Organisers said the fair will proceed with a mix of events and displays through July 10.
