The Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC) plans to train and place over 1.5 lakh candidates in telecom and related emerging technologies in the next financial year to address the demand-supply gap in the industry.
The Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC) has set an ambitious goal to train and place over 1.5 lakh candidates in the telecom and related emerging technologies sector in the upcoming financial year. This initiative aims to address the growing demand-supply gap in the industry, particularly in light of the increasing convergence of telecom with the technology sector and the launch of 5G.

Empowering the Youth with Digital and Core Telecom Skills
TSSC recognizes the need to equip the youth in tier II, III cities, and rural areas with the necessary digital and core telecom and tech skills. By providing training and placement opportunities, TSSC aims to empower these individuals and enable them to contribute to the growth of the telecom sector.
India's Potential in the Global 5G Landscape
The telecom sector holds a significant position in India, accounting for approximately 6.5% of all foreign direct investment (FDI) inflow. Moreover, India is projected to capture 11% of all 5G subscriptions worldwide by 2027. This presents an excellent opportunity for the country to bridge the demand-supply gap in the telecom sector by focusing on reskilling and hiring strategies that target talent in tier II and III cities, as well as university graduates.
Skill Development Initiatives to Fill the Talent Gap
To address the talent gap, TSSC has undertaken various skill development projects, including the Skill India mission government schemes and the flagship scheme Pradhan Mantri Kaushalya Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) 4.0. These initiatives aim to equip the youth with the necessary skills to meet international opportunities and contribute to the growth of the telecom sector.
TelcoJobs: Facilitating Seamless Recruitment in the Telecom Sector
TSSC has also launched TelcoJobs, a platform that connects job seekers and employers to facilitate seamless recruitment in the telecom sector. This platform has registered over 2.5 lakh job seekers and over 2,300 employers, providing a valuable resource for both parties to connect and explore opportunities.
The Telecom Sector Skill Council's initiative to train and place over 1.5 lakh candidates in the telecom and related emerging technologies sector is a commendable effort to address the demand-supply gap in the industry. By empowering the youth with digital and core telecom skills, focusing on reskilling and hiring strategies, and leveraging platforms like TelcoJobs, TSSC is playing a vital role in shaping the future of the telecom sector in India.
