Diesel has seen a sharp 13% spike, rising to Dh4.30 per litre from Dh3.80 in August.
Why Fuel Prices Are Rising in UAE?
UAE fuel prices have been linked to global oil markets since deregulation in 2015, with the Fuel Price Committee reviewing rates every month based on movements in international energy markets.
The hike in Uae fuel prices in September is due to the fresh geopolitical uncertainty. The 60-day ceasefire agreement between the US and Iran has expired, and Washington has shown no intention of extending it, while Tehran has threatened to escalate the conflict which is keeping oil markets on edge.
For the second consecutive month fuel prices have jumped after a drop seen in July 2026. Before that, fuel rates in the UAE had climbed for four consecutive months because of the regional war.
Despite the present increase, people in UAE are still paying less. Petrol rates peaked in June, when Super 98 touched Dh3.95, Special 95 stood at Dh3.83 and E-Plus 91 was at Dh3.76, putting all three September petrol grades roughly 4% below their 2026 highs.
Similarly for Diesel had reached Dh4.69 per litre in April and May, so the September rate is about 8.3% below that high.
The revised rates will be in effect across all seven emirates until the next monthly review, when the Fuel Price Committee announces October rates.
