GST enforcement in Udhampur issues Rs 6.29 lakh penalty over undocumented goods movement
GST enforcement officials in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir, imposed a Rs 6.29 lakh penalty on a trader for alleged GST norm violations linked to goods moved without proper documentation. The action followed around 12 days of surveillance based on intelligence inputs and an interception supported by RFID tracking. The operation was led by Inspector Anil Parihar under senior departmental supervision.
A GST enforcement team in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir imposed a penalty of Rs 6.29 lakh on Saturday. A Sales Tax Department spokesman said the fine followed a case of GST norm violations. The trader was allegedly trying to move goods without the required documents. Officials said the act breached GST rules.

According to the spokesman, the department began action after identifying issues in the goods movement process. The trader was reportedly attempting to handle transport without proper paperwork. The spokesman said this was a clear violation of GST regulations. The department then planned an interception to stop the movement and check compliance.

The spokesman said the trader had remained under watch for about 12 days. Officials began the surveillance after receiving specific intelligence inputs from reliable sources. Based on that information, the enforcement team tracked the suspected movement. The department said the monitoring aimed to confirm the nature of the violation.
The interception was carried out with support from RFID tracking, the spokesman said. Officials used the technology to follow and monitor the movement of goods. The spokesman said this helped the team act at the right moment. The department described the use of RFID as key to effective oversight during the operation.
GST enforcement team in Udhampur named by Sales Tax Department
The spokesman said Inspector Anil Parihar led the operation. The team also included Sub-Inspectors Sanjay Shan, Vikas Kumar, Kanwaljeet Shan and guard Ajay Kumar. Officials said the coordinated effort helped complete the enforcement action. The department linked the work to ongoing checks against GST violations in the district.
The spokesman said State Tax Officer Sahida Akhtar supervised the enforcement operation. The action was executed under the overall guidance of Deputy Commissioner, State Taxes Enforcement, Jammu North HQ Udhampur, Anil Kumar Chandail. Officials said this ensured oversight at multiple levels. The department also noted the operation followed GST enforcement procedures.
GST compliance in Udhampur stressed by senior State Tax Department officials
Commissioner, State Tax Department, Jammu & Kashmir P K Bhat and Additional Commissioner, Jammu Namrita Dogra, appreciated the enforcement team’s work. The spokesman said both officials underlined the need for continued vigilance. They also called for more proactive interceptions to support strict compliance with GST laws.
