Aadhaar offline verification milestone as UIDAI onboards nearly 100 OVSE entities

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) said nearly 100 organisations have onboarded as offline verification seeking entities (OVSEs) within three months. Spanning government, fintech, hospitality, education, and verification services, the move expands Aadhaar offline verification using QR codes and digitally signed documents. UIDAI says the model is consent-based, paperless, and designed to reduce costs and processing time.

The Unique Identification Authority of India UIDAI said on Monday that nearly 100 organisations joined its Aadhaar offline verification system. These organisations were onboarded as offline verification seeking entities, or OVSEs. UIDAI described this as a key step for secure checks. The method relies on consent and works without paper documents.

UIDAI onboards nearly 100 OVSEs

UIDAI said the new participants can verify identities using Aadhaar offline tools. These include QR code-based checks and digitally signed documents. The process lets people show, share, and verify details without live access. It also avoids connecting to UIDAIs central database during verification.

Aadhaar offline verification and OVSE onboarding progress

An official release said at least 100 entities onboarded within three months of the rollout. UIDAI called it a distinct achievement for the programme. The onboarding count was described as a milestone. It aimed to widen the use of Aadhaar offline verification across sectors.

UIDAI said the OVSE list covered many types of organisations. It included central and state government departments. It also covered fintech firms and identity verification providers. Event management, hospitality groups, and exam related entities were included. Background verification and workforce validation companies were also mentioned.

Aadhaar offline verification and resident privacy focus

UIDAI said the model kept users in control of shared information. It said Aadhaar number holders can share only necessary data. The release said this improves privacy through a resident-centric design. UIDAI also said the approach supports consent-led and transparent verification interactions.

UIDAI said onboarding OVSE partners showed rising confidence in privacy-first digital checks. It said the shift should cut friction in operations. It is expected to reduce costs linked to physical documents. UIDAI also said service delivery timelines should improve with less manual work.

Aadhaar offline verification and Digital Public Infrastructure goals

The release said the approach uses a distributed model for verification. UIDAI said this supports resilience, scalability, and security. It also said the system aligns with Indias plan for inclusive Digital Public Infrastructure. UIDAI added that offline verification lowers complexity while supporting trusted identity checks.
