US President Joe Biden Will Attend G20 Summit From Sept 7-10 In New Delhi

US President Joe Biden will travel to New Delhi, India, from September 7-10 to attend the G20 Leaders' summit. President Biden will participate in bilateral meetings with a range of leaders at the summit, the White House said in a statement.

President Biden and the G20 leaders will discuss joint efforts to address global issues. While endorsing India's chairmanship of the G20, the White House press release said that President Biden would also appreciate Prime Minister Modi's leadership of the G20 and reiterate US commitments to the G20 as a premier forum for economic cooperation.

"While in New Delhi, President Biden will also commend Prime Minister Modi's leadership of the G20 and reaffirm the US commitment to the G20 as the premier forum of economic cooperation, including by hosting it in 2026," the White House said in a statement.

The G20 Summit is held annually with a rotating presidency. India took over the presidency of the G20 for one year from December 1, 2022, to November 30, 2023. The group does not have a permanent secretariat and is supported by the previous, current, and future holders of the presidency, known as the troika. In 2023, the Troika consists of Indonesia, Brazil, and India.
