Those candidates who are selected for the H-1B visa for FY26 have received their confirmation mail. Apart from this, people can also check their registration status using their USCIS accounts.

For those who failed to get approval for H-1B visa under the lottery system or are ineligible for the same, here are alternative ways in which they can apply for US visa. To prove exceptional ability, it is important for people to have official academic records showing that they have a degree, diploma, certificate, or a similar award from a college, university, school, or other institution of learning related to their field of expertise.

H-2A Visa

This category of US visa is allotted for people who are willing to move to America as temporary agricultural workers. As per the US Department of State Bureau of Consular Affairs, applicants performing temporary or seasonal agricultural work can apply for the visa. However, entry in the US under this visa category is valid only for nationals of designated countries with limited exceptions.

H-2B US visa

This is a subcategory of H-2 where citizens of designated countries can apply for the worker visa if they are planning to move to the United States to perform seasonal or temporary non-agricultural work.

L-1 Visa

Applicants working in a managerial or executive capacity or applicants working in a position requiring specialised knowledge can get an L-1 visa. However, to be eligible for this US visa category, the petitioner must be a branch, parent, affiliate, or subsidiary of the applicant's current employer. To get an L-1 visa, the applicant must have worked for the same employer abroad for one year within the last three years.

O-1 Visa

The O-1 visa option is available for individuals with extraordinary ability or achievement. Only people with an extraordinary ability or achievement in the field of science, art, education, business, or athletics are eligible for O-1 Visa category. Those people who have done exceptionally well or are acclaimed in the motion picture and television fields. Apart from O-1 visa, the O non-immigrant classification also includes O-1A, O-1B, O2 and O3. O2 visa is offered to artist or athletes to assist in a specific event, whereas O3 visa is provided to the spouses and children of O-1 and O-2 visa holder.

EB2 NIW

People who are interested in applying for a US visa without an employer sponsorship or job offer can get US visa under EB2 NIW category. People who are willing to work in the US can get a US green card as well under this category. People holding an advanced degree or an equivalent qualification or has an exceptional ability are eligible for the visa program.

E1 Visa

Employment based E1 Visa is offered to eligible applicants under five categories based on exceptional qualities, skills and other criteria. E1 visa is provided to eligible candidates based on three categories, which includes 'persons with extraordinary ability', 'Outstanding professors and researchers', and 'multinational managers and executives'.

E3 Visa

Those who are not at any managerial level but have work experience that are not temporary or seasonal can consider applying for E3 visa to work in the US. To be eligible for this visa, applicants must have an approved Immigrant Petition for Alien Worker, Form I-140, filed by the prospective employer
