Uttar Pradesh Government Introduces Scheme to Revive and Upgrade Cinema Halls
The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to revitalise the cinema industry by reopening closed theatres and upgrading existing ones. This decision was made during a cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. An Integrated Incentive Scheme was also approved to promote the construction of multiplexes in districts lacking such facilities and to enhance current cinema halls. This initiative will be in effect for five years.

Incentives for Cinema Halls
State Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Khanna explained that the scheme aims to remodel closed single-screen cinemas and operational ones, as well as build new multiplexes. The financial support will come from the SGST collected from these cinemas, ensuring no extra financial burden on the state government. This approach is designed to stimulate growth without additional state expenditure.
Industry Status for IT Sector
The cabinet also granted industry status to Information Technology and IT-based services. Khanna highlighted the need for significant reforms to accelerate growth in the IT/ITES sector. These changes aim to provide industry status, facilitating land allocation under industrial categories through Residential and Industrial Development Authorities at industrial rates.
The reforms are expected to make land more accessible for IT/ITES units, promoting sector expansion. By classifying land under industrial categories, the state aims to attract more IT businesses, fostering economic development. The government's efforts reflect a strategic move to enhance infrastructure and support technological advancement in Uttar Pradesh.
These initiatives demonstrate a commitment to modernising infrastructure and boosting economic growth in key sectors. By supporting both the entertainment and technology industries, Uttar Pradesh aims to create a more vibrant economy. The focus on cinema halls and IT services highlights the state's dedication to fostering diverse economic opportunities for its residents.
