The upcoming distribution will be the first interim dividend proposal for FY27, making the October 8 board meeting particularly important for shareholders who track Vedanta for regular income.

Vedanta, the Anil Agarwal-led natural resources company, informed the stock exchanges that its board will meet on Thursday, October 8, to consider and approve the first interim dividend on equity shares for FY27. The company has fixed Wednesday, October 14, 2026, as the record date, subject to the board approving the dividend.

The record date determines which shareholders will be eligible for the payout. In practical terms, investors need to be shareholders as per the applicable settlement process on the record date to qualify. With India's T+1 settlement cycle, October 13 would effectively be the last trading day to buy Vedanta shares for dividend eligibility, subject to the applicable exchange and settlement rules.

Vedanta has not yet announced the amount of the proposed interim dividend, meaning the record date alone does not confirm how much shareholders will receive. The actual per-share dividend will only become clear once the board approves the proposal and the company makes the formal announcement.

Vedanta Dividend History: Stock Has Strong Payout Record

According to market data cited by Trendlyne, the company has declared 49 dividends since July 23, 2001, while its dividend yield at the prevailing market price mentioned in the reference data stood above 4.3%.

Its recent payout record provides some context for income-focused shareholders. Vedanta paid an interim dividend of Rs 11 per share in March 2026. During the previous year, it declared interim dividends of Rs 16 per share in August and Rs 7 per share in June.

The company had an even larger distribution cycle in 2024, when it declared four dividends totalling Rs 43.5 per share. While this history highlights Vedanta's shareholder-return track record, investors should not assume that previous payouts will determine the amount of the FY27 interim dividend.
