Record Numbers Across the Board
Compared with the June quarter, revenue rose 10%, while EBITDA and profit both grew 17%. EBITDA margin, which the company reports excluding its copper business, stood at 60%, up 1,055 basis points YoY.
The first-half picture is just as strong. Revenue for H1 FY27 was Rs. 49,268 crore, up 54% YoY, and EBITDA rose 103% to Rs. 18,407 crore. Half-year profit reached Rs. 11,496 crore, also up 151%.
Most of the gain came from the market, not the mines. Of the Rs. 5,121 crore rise in EBITDA over last year, Rs. 4,372 crore came from higher commodity prices and a weaker rupee.
Zinc averaged $3,825 a tonne, up 35% YoY. Copper rose 44% to $14,104 a tonne, and silver jumped 59% to $62.6 an ounce. The rupee averaged 95.57 to the dollar against 87.31 a year ago, which boosts earnings for a company that sells in dollars. Higher volumes added Rs. 553 crore and lower costs added another Rs. 132 crore.
Zinc India was the star of the quarter. Mined metal production hit a record 271 kt, up 5% YoY, and silver output rose 20% to 173 tonnes. Segment revenue climbed 76% to Rs. 14,525 crore, and EBITDA doubled from Rs. 4,434 crore to ₹9,243 crore. That one business made almost all of the group's Rs. 9,938 crore EBITDA. Cost of production fell 29% YoY to $703 a tonne, the lowest since the shift to underground mining.
Net debt fell by Rs. 4,624 crore in a single quarter to Rs. 3,675 crore, and net debt to EBITDA improved to 0.1x from 0.3x. Cash and equivalents stand at Rs. 26,622 crore.
