The 10th edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit (VGGS) 2024 concluded on a high note in Gandhinagar, India, with the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) for a staggering 41,299 projects, representing investment proposals worth a colossal Rs 26.33 lakh crore (approximately $3.2 trillion).

A Biennial Showcase of Economic Prowess
The three-day mega event, held biennially, witnessed the participation of over 61,000 delegates from more than 140 countries, underscoring Gujarat's position as a global business hub. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel took to social media to announce the impressive tally of MoUs, marking a significant milestone in the state's economic journey.
Building on Past Success
Taking into account the MoUs signed at the previously scheduled VGGS 2022, which was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the total number of agreements inked between the 9th and 10th editions of the summit stands at a remarkable 98,540. These agreements represent a cumulative investment proposal of over Rs 45 lakh crore ($5.5 trillion), a testament to Gujarat's unwavering commitment to economic growth and development.
A Diverse Investment Landscape
As per the official investor facilitation portal (IFP), the MoUs encompass a wide range of sectors, with urban development, mineral, chemicals, petrochemicals, animal husbandry and fishing, power, oil & gas, agro and food processing, textile and apparels emerging as the frontrunners in terms of investment proposals.
Beyond Traditional Industries
In addition to these core sectors, the summit also attracted significant interest in areas such as environment, forest and climate change, rural development and rurban housing, education, engineering and auto, health care, pharma, and tourism, reflecting Gujarat's commitment to sustainable and inclusive growth.
A Global Gathering
The summit, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 10, saw the participation of high-profile dignitaries, including UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan as the chief guest. Presidents of Mozambique (Filipe Nyusi), Timore-Leste (Jose Ramos-Horta), and Czech Republic (Petr Pavel) also graced the event, along with Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam (Tran Luu Quang) and over 40 minister-led delegations from various countries. A total of 35 countries partnered for the event, underscoring Gujarat's global appeal as an investment destination.
A Fitting Conclusion
Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed the concluding ceremony of the summit, emphasizing the significance of the event in driving economic growth and development. The VGGS 2024 served as a resounding affirmation of Gujarat's economic prowess and its ability to attract global investments, setting the stage for continued success in the years to come.
