Vodafone Idea Submits Self Assessement On AGR Dues To DoT

In a stock exchange filing on Friday, Vodafone Idea said that it has filed its self-assessment on AGR (adjusted gross revenue) liabilities with the Department of Telecommunications. As per the telco's calculations, the AGR associated dues are significantly lower at Rs 21,533 crore compared to DoT's demand.

"The self-assessment discloses the Company's AGR liabilities to aggregate Rs.21,533 crores including a principal amount of Rs.6,854 crores for the period from FY 2006-07 to FY 2018-19 and interest up to February 2020," the statement said.

Vodafone Idea further informed that it has already paid a sum of Rs 2,500 crore on 17 February and Rs 1,000 crore on 20 February towards this liability.

The total AGR liability of the telecom operator as per government calculations is Rs 57,000 crore.

The announcement on its self-assessment regarding AGR issues comes on the same day that the Vodafone Group Plc's CEO Nick Read met Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Read has also scheduled a meeting with Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad.

Sitharaman said on Friday that a decision on relief to telecom companies with AGR dues will be announced soon.
