Weather Warning for Karnataka: IMD Flags Very Heavy Rain Across Multiple Districts Till July 10
IMD has issued a fresh alert for Karnataka weather, forecasting very heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds across many parts of the state over the coming days.
According to the latest forecast, coastal Karnataka will receive very heavy rainfall till July 9, while South Interior Karnataka and Malnad districts are going to experience intense rainfall till July 10.

The weather department on Monday, said light to moderate rain together with thunderstorms and gusty winds is expected across the state, with some places likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall.
IMD Forecast for Karnataka
As per the IMD, light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and strong winds is expected over Karnataka.
Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places in the coastal districts, while very heavy rainfall is expected till July 9. The department has also predicted very heavy rainfall over South Interior Karnataka and the Malnad region till Friday, July 10.
Additionally, Uttara Kannada district may also experience heavy rainfall till July 9, with very heavy rain likely on July 6 and July 7.
Coastal Karnataka to Receive the Heaviest Rain
The latest district-wise warning by Karnataka State Natural Disaster Management shows that Coastal Karnataka will continue to experience the most intense rainfall over the next week.
Very heavy rain is expected between July 6 and July 8, continued by heavy rainfall through July 11. Thunderstorms, lightning, squally winds and gusty conditions are also likely during this period.
Districts such as Udupi, Uttara Kannada and Dakshina Kannada are expected to remain under the highest rainfall activity, raising the risk of waterlogging, overflowing rivers and localised flooding.
Interior Karnataka Weather to Receive Heavy Rain for the Next Few Days
As per IMD, Rainfall activity will be intense across North Interior Karnataka, where very heavy rain is forecast for July 6 and July 7, and will continue till July 11. The weather departments also expected thunderstorms accompanied by lightning across several districts.
Meanwhile, South Interior Karnataka is likely to witness very heavy rainfall from July 6 to July 8, with heavy showers continuing on July 9 and July 10 before rainfall intensity gradually decreases later in the week.
Highest Rainfall Recorded in Karnataka
The monsoon in Karnataka has already spread its roots and is intensifying with each passing day. Several areas recorded exceptionally high rainfall during the past 24 hours.
The highest rainfall was recorded at Thirthahalli-Hosahalli in Shivamogga, about 143.5 mm, which is followed by Ajri in Udupi, which received 124 mm of rainfall. Shivalli in Uttara Kannada recorded 111 mm. Other places, including Basruru, Ramanagar, Kammaradi, Bedkani, Mumbaru and Aruvathoklu, also received between 88 mm and 102 mm of rainfall during this period.
Warnings for Residents in Karnataka
Residents living in low-lying and hilly areas have been advised to stay cautious and avoid unnecessary travel during the time of very heavy rainfall. Commuters must also be aware of waterlogged areas and take an alternate route if available
