Akshay Kumar's much-awaited comedy entertainer Welcome To The Jungle has finally hit cinemas, bringing back the madness of the popular Welcome franchise with an all-new jungle adventure. Directed by Ahmed Khan, the multi-starrer began its theatrical journey with paid preview shows on Thursday, generating encouraging numbers ahead of its official Day 1 release.

The film has opened to decent occupancy across multiplexes, while trade experts expect collections to pick up further through the evening and weekend as family audiences flock to theatres.

According to Sacnilk, Welcome To The Jungle has witnessed a strong start at the box office on Day 1. As per the early estimates, the film is running across 5,783 shows nationwide and has collected Rs 4.90 crore (net) so far. Its total India gross collection stands at Rs 10.28 crore, while the total India net collection has reached Rs 8.65 crore.

The final Day 1 figures are yet to be reported as evening and night show collections are still being added.

Ahead of its official release, the makers organised limited paid preview shows on Thursday.

The film reportedly earned around Rs 3.75 crore nett from these preview screenings, giving it healthy opening momentum before Friday's nationwide release.

Welcome To The Jungle takes the franchise away from luxury hotels and underworld hideouts into an action-packed jungle adventure filled with confusion, mistaken identities and slapstick humour.

The story revolves around a corrupt politician who plans to produce a deliberately disastrous Rs 2,000-crore film as part of an unusual financial scheme. To execute the bizarre plan, two filmmakers recruit a group of struggling actors and technicians, only for the fake movie shoot to spiral into real-life danger inside a jungle.

The biggest strength of the film lies in its self-aware humour. It frequently pokes fun at Bollywood's obsession with inflated budgets, stardom and formulaic filmmaking while delivering several situational comedy sequences.

Although the first half feels crowded with too many characters, the second half becomes more engaging as the misunderstandings begin to pay off with entertaining comic moments.

The film may not match the iconic comic chemistry of earlier Welcome films, but it delivers enough laughs, nostalgia and large-scale entertainment to satisfy fans looking for a fun theatrical experience.
