On Thursday to fight the Covid 19 pandemic, government of India has launched Aarogya Setu mobile app that will enable individuals assess the risk of contracting coronavirus infection by themselves. The app with a view to update the countrymen about the "best practices and relevant advisories pertaining to the containment of COVID-19" was developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC).

How will the Aarogya Setu App work?

As we write coronavirus positive cases in the country have surpassed 2000 and death toll has reached 56, so the newly developed app will provide an estimate of the probability of contracting the infection by using advanced bluetooth technology, artificial intelligence and algorithms, based on the users interaction with others.

 

After the Aarogya Setu app is installed on user's phone it identifies other devices with Aarogya Setu app that come in its vicinity and then evaluates the risk of contracting the virus basis certain sophisticated metrics if any of these contacts is tested positive.

Where to Download Aarogya Setu app from?

The app is available on both Andriod and ioS platforms and for searching the app you need to simply type just 'AarogyaSetu' without any space. Currently the app is made available in 11 languages.

How to use Aarogya Setu app?

Before using the app, you will have to provide the required permissions and thereafter in the next step you would need to enter your credentials. Further, the data stored over the app is encrypted. "The app's design ensures privacy-first. The personal data collected by the app is encrypted using state-of-the-art technology and stays secure on the phone till it is needed for facilitating medical intervention," an official statement said.

1. Provides in-depth information about Covid 19
2. Self assessment test- It will ask you a number of questions to evaluate your risk of catching the infection
3. COVDI-19 Helpcenter feature offers state-wise helplines for people who have concerns relating to the infection.
4. On Android platform, the app also update about recent tweets by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.
