What Is WhatsApp Plus on iPhone? Here's What the New Premium Plan Offers;Features, Free Trial & More

Meta-owned WhatsApp has quietly started rolling out a brand-new premium subscription called WhatsApp Plus for some iPhone users.

The WhatsApp update has introduced a range of customisation features, advanced chat management tools, and exclusive perks for paid subscribers.

WhatsApp Plus

The new WhatsApp Plus subscription is currently available only to a limited number of iOS users and is expected to expand globally over the coming weeks. The feature is available only on WhatsApp Messenger and not on WhatsApp Business.

WhatsApp Plus Subscription Price

As per early reports, the WhatsApp Plus price in European regions is set at €2.49 per month. In the United States, the subscription is expected to cost between $2.49 and $2.99 monthly.

For Indian users, this roughly comes to around Rs. 284 per month, although Meta has not yet officially confirmed India pricing or launch details.

The subscription is optional and users can continue using the standard version of WhatsApp for free.

WhatsApp Plus Features

The biggest highlight of the new WhatsApp Plus plan is the ability to personalise the app experience beyond the traditional green WhatsApp interface.

18 Accent Colours & 14 New App Icons

Subscribers can choose from 18 accent colours, replacing WhatsApp's default green theme with new shades and styles. Users also get access to 14 alternate app icons, including Minimal outline icons, Artistic designs, Glitter-style themes and modern monochrome looks.

Premium Sticker Packs & Animated Effects

WhatsApp Plus also introduces exclusive premium sticker packs featuring full-screen overlay animations. Interestingly, even non-subscribers will be able to view these animated stickers when received in chats. The update also adds 10 new ringtone options with more modern and contemporary sound styles.

Pin Up to 20 Chats on WhatsApp

One of the most practical upgrades in WhatsApp Plus is the ability to pin up to 20 chats simultaneously.
Currently, regular WhatsApp users can pin only three chats at the top of their inbox. This new feature could be especially useful for a lot of people who handle large volume of messages.

Better Chat List Management

WhatsApp Plus users can also create custom chat lists such as Work chats, Family groups, Friends & Clients
The app allows users to apply the same theme, Notification sound & Call ringtone across an entire chat category at once, making inbox organization significantly easier.

WhatsApp Plus Free Trial

Some eligible users may receive a free trial for WhatsApp Plus before subscribing. Reports suggest the trial could last one week or one month, depending on the region and rollout phase. The subscription auto-renews every month and can be cancelled or managed directly through Apple's App Store subscription settings.

Is WhatsApp Becoming Paid?

No. Core WhatsApp services remain completely free. Users who do not subscribe to WhatsApp Plus will still have access to all the existing WhatsApp features like Free messaging, Voice calls, Video calls, Group chats and Channels. The subscription only adds optional premium customisation and productivity tools.

The rollout currently appears limited to a small group of iPhone users and is reportedly not yet widely available in the US market. To check whether the feature is available on your device Open WhatsApp, Go to Settings and Look for the "WhatsApp Plus" section in your account settings. A wider rollout is expected in the coming weeks.
