Delhi residents may have to wait a little longer for the much-awaited southwest monsoon as weather forecasts indicate a possible delay in its arrival over the national capital. While Delhi usually welcomes monsoon around June 27, the current progress of rain-bearing winds suggests that the seasonal rains may not reach the city on time this year.

Delhi Monsoon 2026: Will Rains Arrive After the Normal Date? Past Records Show Rains Have Arrived as Late as July 26

Delhi Weather Forecast for June 19 and 20: IMD Predicts Temperature Likely to Rise Before Relief
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a gradual increase in daytime temperatures across Delhi over the next two days. Maximum temperatures are likely to rise by around 2°C to 3°C till June 20.
Night temperatures are also expected to become warmer, with minimum temperatures likely to increase by 2°C to 4°C over the next five days. However, the weather department has indicated that a fall of around 2°C to 3°C in maximum temperatures could occur during the subsequent 48 hours, bringing some relief from the heat.
Pre-Monsoon Showers to Continue in Delhi-NCR
Despite the delay in the monsoon's arrival, Delhi and neighbouring areas are likely to witness occasional spells of light rain and thunderstorms due to ongoing pre-monsoon activity.
These rain spells are expected to be short-lived and not very intense, but they may help lower temperatures temporarily and improve overall weather comfort.
