The US will wait for Iran's response on negotiations till 8 pm (local time), said US President JD Vance in a media address on Tuesday. He also expressed confidence of receiving response from Iran.

"The ball is in the Iranians court now. Iranians are not the fastest negotiators before the war started and they are certainly not the fastest negotiators now. We recognize there's some delay sometimes in transmitting messages from one person to another, but we feel confident that we can get a response, whether it's positive or negative. We're going to get a response from the Iranians by 8 o'clock tonight. I hope they make the right response," said JD Vance.

Earlier, Donald Trump had given an 48 hour deadline to Iran to open Strait of Hormuz to ensure global oil supply from the passage. Meanwhile, Iran has rejected the US's proposal of a ceasefire. It has also demanded an end to hostilities, reconstruction assistance, and the removal of sanctions.

The Iranian Embassy swiftly responded to Donald Trump's statement on Truth Social, issuing a sharp rebuttal. "Trump told: "A whole civilization will die tonight". You and your allies will suffer an unforgettable hit from the ancient civilization of Iran," read a social media post by Iran Embassy SA on X.

Meanwhile, the US and Israel have intensified their attacks on Iran targeting their crucial infrastructure. One of the railway bridges in Iran's Zajan Province was targeted in a strike, reported Reuters citing Iranian media on Tuesday.

In a separate incident, explosions were reportedl heard around Kharg Island, which is an important oil export hub near the Strait of Hormuz, as per Iranian news agency Mehr. The intensified air strikes across the Middle East is likely to fuel the Brent Crude oil past the $200 per barrel mark and raise concerns aboutits ripple effects. As per a Wall Street Journal report, US struck more than 50 targets on Kharg Island.
