Winter vacation in India has officially begun in many states as schools across the country announce December 2025 winter holidays with Christmas and New Year celebrations. State-Wise Winter Vacation Dates

Tamil Nadu: Schools have announced a 12-day half-yearly holiday starting December 24, covering Christmas and extending into early January.

Bihar: Winter vacation is expected to run from December 25 to December 31, with a chance of extension if cold wave conditions intensify.

Kerala: Schools were closed on December 24 and 25 for Christmas, followed by a winter break from January 1 to January 15, 2026. Reopening is scheduled for January 16.

Karnataka: Most schools are likely to observe winter vacation from December 23, 2025, to January 1, 2026, though dates may vary by institution.

Jammu & Kashmir: Due to severe winter conditions, schools will remain closed for an extended period. Classes 1-8: December 1, 2025 to February 28, 2026, Classes 9-12: December 11, 2025 to February 22, 2026

Maharashtra: December 25, 2025 (Christmas Day) is a confirmed statewide holiday. Additional winter breaks depend on individual school and board calendars.

Delhi NCR: Schools are closed from December 23, 2025, to January 1, 2026, with possible extensions based on weather and air quality.

Andhra Pradesh & Telangana: Missionary schools in both states observed Christmas holidays from December 23 to December 27.
