Wipro Appoints Former Capgemini Executive As CEO
On Friday, Wipro Ltd announced the appointment of Thierry Delaporte, a top Capgemini executive as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director (MD) of the company with effect from 6 July.
He will be based in Paris and report to Chairman Rishad Premji.
Delaporte has held several leadership roles at Capgemini including that of Chief Executive Officer of the Global Financial Services Strategic Business Unit, and head of all global service lines. He also oversaw Capgemini's lndia
operations, and led the group's transformation agenda, conceptualizing and driving several strategic programs across various business units.
Delaporte has a Bachelor's degree in Economy and Finance from Sciences Po Paris and a Masters in Law from Sorbonne University.

Abidali Neemuchwala will relinquish his position as CEO and MD on 1 June and Rishad Premji will oversee the day to day operations of the company until 5 July, the company said.
In a separate exchange filing, Wipro said that its board has proposed the appointment of Deepak M Satwalekar as an additional independent director for 5 years with effect from 1 July 2020 on account of resignation submitted by Arundhati Bhattacharya to the Company. It further said that Bhattacharya "has indicated that the reason for her resignation is her decision to accept a full-time role as Chairperson and CEO in another company."
