Wipro Infrastructure Engineering (WIN) has introduced a new business segment focused on producing high-performance base materials for Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs). This new venture, named Wipro Electronic Materials, will establish a Copper Clad Laminate (CCL) manufacturing plant in Karnataka. The project involves an investment of roughly Rs 500 crore and is expected to generate about 350 jobs.

The facility, located on a 19-acre plot near Bengaluru International Airport in Adinarayanahosahalli, will manufacture over 6 million sheets of copper-clad laminates along with related pre-impregnated materials. This initiative represents a pioneering investment in India's electronics manufacturing sector, facilitated by support from the Government of Karnataka and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
Strengthening Supply Chain Resilience
Pratik Kumar, CEO of WIN and MD of Wipro Enterprises, highlighted the significance of this development. "By giving Indian manufacturers reliable access to locally produced, high-quality materials, we are strengthening supply chain resilience and accelerating global competitiveness," he stated. This move aims to enhance the availability of essential materials for various industries.
WIN operates under Wipro Enterprises and specialises in fields such as hydraulics, industrial automation, aerospace, water treatment, and additive manufacturing. The new division will be led by Founders and Co-CEOs Tarun Amla and Neeraj Pandita, with Kumar providing overall leadership.
Addressing Supply Chain Challenges
The electronics manufacturing industry currently faces significant supply chain issues, with all copper-clad laminates being imported. Wipro Electronic Materials aims to address this challenge by producing these materials domestically. "This strengthens our ability to serve key sectors like telecom, automotive, consumer electronics, and AI - while positioning Wipro as a supplier focused on serving global customers and OEMs," said Pandita.
In financial terms, Wipro reported a 9.8% rise in consolidated net profit to Rs 3,336.5 crore for the April-June quarter of FY26. During the same period, its revenue from operations saw a slight increase to Rs 22,134.6 crore.
This strategic move by Wipro not only aims to reduce dependency on imports but also positions the company as a key player in the global electronics supply chain. By focusing on local production of high-quality materials, Wipro seeks to enhance its service capabilities across various sectors.
