The year 2025 saw a significant 29% increase in job applications, largely due to the rising participation of women and early-career professionals. The Apna.co report highlights this trend as service-led hiring expanded across various sectors.
In 2025, job applications in India surged by 29% compared to the previous year, largely due to increased participation from women and early-career professionals. This growth was driven by the expansion of service-led hiring beyond major cities and the widespread adoption of digital recruitment tools, as highlighted in Apna.co's 'India at Work 2025' report.

Women's involvement in the workforce saw a significant rise, with a 36% increase in applications for roles in finance, administrative services, customer experience, and healthcare support. Fresh graduates also showed a stronger interest in entering the job market, contributing to a 10% increase in applications across service and technology sectors.
Job Market Dynamics
The report is based on comprehensive research analysing data from Apna.co for the year 2025. It emphasised that early-career talent played a crucial role in driving hiring momentum, with nearly 1 crore young individuals joining the workforce annually. Job postings on the Apna.co platform reached 14 lakh in 2025, marking a 15% year-on-year increase.
This rise was supported by greater digital adoption among small and medium businesses (SMBs) and continued enterprise expansion into tier II and III cities. The demand for jobs remained widespread across sectors such as BFSI, retail, logistics, e-commerce, healthcare, mobility, and IT services.
Regional Growth and Opportunities
SMBs contributed significantly with 10 lakh job postings, reflecting an 11% year-on-year growth. Enterprises accounted for 4 lakh postings, growing by 14% YoY. This indicates a more geographically distributed hiring footprint across India.
Women submitted over 3.8 crore job applications in 2025, marking a substantial increase of 36% from the previous year. Tier I cities accounted for about 2 crore applications, while tier II and III cities contributed around 1.8 crore applications, showing nearly 30% growth in emerging markets.
Salaries and Leadership Roles
The average salaries for women increased by an estimated 22%, aligning with their higher entry into finance, administrative, and customer experience roles. Applications for managerial and senior positions surpassed 1.1 crore, up by 35% year-on-year. This trend indicates a gradual strengthening of leadership pipelines within organisations.
The findings underscore the evolving dynamics of India's job market in 2025. With more women and fresh graduates entering various sectors, there is a noticeable shift towards a more inclusive workforce. The adoption of digital tools and expansion into smaller cities further supports this transformation.
