Last month, as part of the many economic measures to fight COIVD-19, Finance Minister Nirmala Sithraman had announced Rs 1,500 for all women account holders of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana.

Accordingly, the Indian Banks' Association said that it will credit Rs 500 per month for 3 months in accounts of these beneficiaries.

IBA has now announced that women covered under the scheme will be able to start withdrawing Rs 500 from their Jan Dhan accounts from 3 April, as the government is remitting the first of the three instalments.

"Under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package, a sum of Rs 500 per month is being deposited into the accounts of Women Jan Dhan Yojana beneficiaries by all Banks. This is first of the monthly installments," it said in a statement.

However, considering the health protocols to curb the spread of COVID-19, that is to maintain social distancing, withdrawals will have to be made in an orderly manner by the beneficiaries by following the schedule below that will be practised at all banks for the month of April 2020.

"And after 9th April, beneficiaries may withdraw any day at their convenience," IBA said.
