In a recent report released on Wednesday, it was revealed that women job seekers in India have shown a strong preference for sectors such as Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI), telecom, and e-commerce. The report, based on an analysis of job searches by women on the apna.co platform in 2023, highlighted the growing demand for work-from-home (WFH) opportunities among women.

The report indicated that women job seekers are seeking a balance between flexibility and career advancement. Approximately 50% of the total job applications from women sought WFH opportunities, demonstrating their desire to manage both personal and professional responsibilities effectively.

Emerging Sectors and Night Shift Roles

This year, sectors like BFSI, telecom, and e-commerce witnessed a significant surge in demand from women job seekers. Additionally, 18 lakh women embraced night shift roles, showcasing their willingness to take on challenging work schedules.

Tier-II Cities Driving Growth

The report also revealed that 6.7 million women from tier-II cities are registered on the apna platform, marking a 33% growth compared to the previous year. Cities like Chandigarh, Patna, Lucknow, Ajmer, and Vadodara saw a notable rise in women seeking diverse roles in areas such as business development, HR, back office, teaching, and customer support. This growth reflects both the expanding job market in these regions and the evolving career aspirations of women in tier-II cities.
