WPL 2026 mega auction, scheduled to take place in New Delhi on November 27, 2026. The high-intensity, one-day event comes shortly after all five franchises announced their lists of retained and released players earlier this month.

With the countdown officially underway, the league's X handle marked the milestone with a post stating, "10 Days to Go. The countdown to #TATAWPL Mega Auction has begun. Catch the WPL auction 2026 on November 27."
WPL 2026 Auction Purse Standings: UP Warriorz Tops, Followed by Gujarat Giants, RCB, MI, Delhi Capitals and Others
Each team can build a squad of up to 18 players, and across the league, a total of 73 slots remain open, including 23 spots reserved for overseas players. With a mix of global talent and emerging Indian prospects available, the auction is expected to shape the competitive balance of the upcoming edition.
Among the five teams, the UP Warriorz enter the auction with the largest remaining purse at Rs 14.5 crore, putting them in a strong position to pursue top players aggressively. They also possess four right-to-match (RTM) options and have retained only one uncapped player, Shweta Sehrawat.
Gujarat Giants follow with Rs 9 crore, while Royal Challengers Bangalore (Rs 6.15 crore), Mumbai Indians (Rs 5.75 crore) and Delhi Capitals (Rs 5.7 crore) round out the auction purse standings.
WPL 2026 Retention List: Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Smriti Mandhana Among Top Retained Players
Retention strategies differ across franchises. Mumbai Indians, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, and Delhi Capitals, three-time runners-up, have retained the maximum allowed five players each, using up their RTM options. Delhi Capitals notably held onto key performers Shafali Verma and Jemimah Rodrigues, both instrumental in India's ICC Women's World Cup success, with match-winning contributions in crucial knockout games.
Over the previous three WPL seasons, marquee signings have made headlines, with Smriti Mandhana remaining the tournament's most expensive player at Rs 3.4 crore from the inaugural edition.
Mandhana, who captains Royal Challengers Bangalore and led the team to the 2024 title, is among four players retained by RCB, alongside Richa Ghosh, Ellyse Perry, and Shreyanka Patil.
Ahead of the auction, 17 players have been retained across franchises, including seven international stars, leaving a combined Rs 41.1 crore to spend. Anticipated high-profile names include Deepti Sharma (Player of the Tournament at the 2025 Women's World Cup), Laura Wolvaardt, Alyssa Healy, Meg Lanning, Amelia Kerr and Nadine de Klerk.
The official auction pool will be released by WPL soon.
