Yamaha aims to launch ten new models, including electric scooters, in India by the end of 2026. The company anticipates a 10% sales growth this fiscal year, focusing on premium segments and the expanding middle-income market.
Yamaha, a leading Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer, plans to introduce ten new models in India by the end of 2026. This includes electric scooters, as part of their growth strategy. On Tuesday, the company launched four new models, including two electric scooters. Yamaha Motor Co Ltd's Senior Executive Officer and Yamaha Motor India Group Chairman, Itaru Otani, shared these plans.

Otani highlighted that India's growing middle-income class is driving the two-wheeler market's expansion. He emphasised that India is crucial to Yamaha's global growth strategy, with significant potential in both premium and electric mobility segments. The company's product roadmap includes ten new models and over 20 updates by 2026-end.
Focus on Premium and Electric Segments
Yamaha aims to focus on premium and deluxe motorcycle segments alongside scooters in India. The company is expanding its premium segment with the XSR155, adding to the existing R15 and MT15 lineup. Additionally, the deluxe segment is being reinforced with the launch of FZ-RAVE. The XSR155 is priced at Rs 1,49,990, while the FZ-RAVE costs Rs 1,17,218 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The company plans to fully utilise its annual production capacity of 15 lakh units across its Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu facilities. In 2024-25, production reached 10.01 lakh units, up from 9.3 lakh units in 2023-24. Despite changing market dynamics making it hard to set fixed targets, Yamaha aims for a 10% sales growth this fiscal year.
Electric Scooter Rollout Strategy
Yamaha is adopting a gradual approach to establish a strong presence in India's electric vehicle market. The company will introduce its premium electric scooter AEROX-E and commuting segment scooter EC-06 in top four cities where there is a preference for EVs. Prices and market rollout are expected in the first quarter of 2026.
Otani acknowledged a slowdown in electric two-wheeler demand due to supply chain issues and subsidy withdrawal by the government. However, he stressed Yamaha's commitment to launching EV products successfully without losing customer trust.
In terms of domestic sales, Yamaha India recorded wholesales of 6,92,951 units in 2024-25 compared to 6,94,853 units the previous year, according to SIAM data. The company expects a boost from reduced GST rates and renewed dealer motivation.
Looking ahead, Yamaha plans to continue investing in premium and deluxe categories. "If we look at the future, we will keep growing those categories," Otani stated. He added that Yamaha will maintain its direction by investing in these models.
