Yellow Alert in Bangalore Today: IMD Warns of Rain and Thunderstorms This Week; Bengaluru Weather Update

Bangalore Weather Update: After a relatively dry and pleasant weekend, Bengaluru and many other parts of Karnataka are expected to welcome rainy weather this week. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for 18 districts across the state, forecasting light to moderate rainfall, isolated thunderstorms, and winds over the coming days in Bangalore. Rain was seen in some parts of Bangalore on Monday and similar Weather conditions are expected to remain on Tuesday April 15.

This is a much needed shift in Bengaluru weather and big relief for residents who are currently dealing with summer heat. However, people should now remain cautious, especially in areas likely to be affected by strong winds and heavy rainfall since many areas in Bengaluru get waterlogged even in the slightest rain.

IMD Issues Yellow Alert for 18 Districts in Karnataka

According to the IMD, the yellow alert has been triggered due to the presence of an upper air cyclonic circulation over coastal Andhra Pradesh and surrounding regions. This system is influencing the atmospheric conditions across several districts of Karnataka, particularly Bengaluru, Mysuru, and parts of the coastal and interior regions.

The IMD forecast indicates rain and thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds travelling at speeds of 40-50 km/h in isolated locations.

What Does a Yellow Alert Mean?
