Stand-up comedian Zakir Khan has announced that he will be taking an extended break from comedy. The announcement was made during his recent live show in Hyderabad, part of his ongoing Papa Yaar tour, where a clip of his emotional address quickly went viral on social media.

According to Zakir Khan's team, the comedian has decided to step away from live performances for an extended period, reportedly until 2030, citing health concerns and personal reasons. Speaking directly to a packed auditorium, Zakir explained that the hiatus could last anywhere between three to five years, possibly until 2028, 2029 or even 2030, after he completes his existing commitments.

Addressing the audience candidly, Zakir stressed the importance of prioritising his health and personal life. "It will be a break of three, four, or five years to take care of my health and to sort out a few other things. Everyone present here tonight is very close to my heart. Your presence means more to me than you can imagine, and I will always be grateful to all of you," he said, visibly emotional.
Zakir also hinted at the decision through Instagram stories before confirming it publicly. After arriving in Dubai, he shared another update stating that the break was final. "Every show is a celebration till June 20. I won't be able to come to many cities this time, so please make a little extra effort and come to the shows. Thank you for all the love," he wrote.
Zakir Khan first rose to national prominence in 2012 after winning Comedy Central's India's Best Stand-Up Comedian competition. Since then, he has built a massive fan base in India and abroad through his relatable storytelling and emotional depth.
He has released several successful stand-up specials, including Haq Se Single, Kaksha Gyarvi, Tathastu, Mannpasand, and Delulu Express, many of which streamed on Amazon Prime Video.
