Blinkit, the quick-commerce arm of Zomato, has launched a feature that allows customers to initiate returns or exchanges for clothing and footwear within just 10 minutes of delivery. This move aims to address the prevalent issue of size anxiety, a common concern for online shoppers in the fashion industry.
Albinder Dhindsa, co-founder of Blinkit, announced the new feature on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), highlighting its potential to improve the shopping experience for consumers. "This solves a crucial problem of size anxiety for categories like clothing and footwear. This return or exchange will happen within 10 minutes of raising a request," Dhindsa stated in his post.
The new return-and-exchange service was initially piloted in the Delhi-NCR region for several weeks, garnering positive feedback from early users. Following its success, the service has now been expanded to major cities such as Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Pune. Blinkit has also hinted at plans to introduce the feature in additional locations soon.

The introduction of this service marks a shift in the way consumers engage with quick-commerce platforms. Traditionally focused on groceries and essentials, these platforms are increasingly diversifying their product offerings to include fashion, home appliances, beauty products, electronics, and more.
One of the most common challenges faced by online shoppers in the fashion industry is the fear of ordering the wrong size. Blinkit's 10-minute return and exchange feature directly addresses this concern, allowing customers to quickly rectify any sizing issues without the hassle of long waiting periods. This is particularly valuable for shoppers who prefer a seamless, fast-paced shopping experience, which Blinkit has been known for in other product categories.
Competitors such as Zepto and Instamart have also been expanding their product categories beyond groceries, further blurring the lines between traditional e-commerce and quick commerce. For instance, Zepto offers a 72-hour exchange policy for apparel that arrives damaged or defective, but Blinkit's 10-minute window sets a new benchmark.
As Blinkit and its competitors explore new opportunities within the fashion industry, they are now offering a variety of products from well-known brands such as Adidas, Pepe, FabIndia, Jockey, Boldfit, XYXX, US Polo Association, Paragon, and Liberty, among others. This expansion broadens the range of products available to consumers and also introduces a level of immediacy that traditional e-commerce platforms have yet to match.
