Zypp To Supply 1 Lakh E-Scooters To Zomato By Next Year
Indian electric mobility firm Zypp Electric has partnered with popular food delivery platform Zomato to deploy 1,00,000 electric scooters for the last-mile delivery across the country by 2024.

This partnership aims to revolutionise the food delivery industry by providing a sustainable and efficient solution for last-mile delivery. The e-scooters will help reduce carbon emissions and lower operating costs for Zomato's delivery fleet.
Zypp, which specialises in electric two-wheelers, will provide the e-scooters and support services for this initiative. The company has a vast network of battery-swapping stations across multiple cities in India, which will ensure the e-scooters are always charged and ready for use.
In a release, Zypp has stated that in addition to deploying 1 lakh e-scooters to Zomato, it will also supply delivery partners in multiple cities across India. This partnership will enhance Zomato's delivery network and enable it to provide efficient and sustainable deliveries to its customers.
According to Zypp, they have already deployed more than 13,000 e-vehicles as part of their sustainable transportation plan. The company has set an ambitious goal of achieving over 100 million deliveries using their e-vehicles by 2024.
Additionally, the company aims to reduce carbon emissions by up to 35 million kg, demonstrating their commitment to promoting sustainable mobility in India. It's the company's commitment to accomplish over 10 million eco-friendly deliveries using electric vehicles (EVs) by 2024.
This collaboration is one aspect of Zomato's wider strategy to become fully reliant on electric transportation by 2030, in line with its participation in "The Climate Group's EV100" program.
As Zypp points out, food delivery in India is predominantly carried out on petrol-powered 2-wheelers. Nevertheless, there is a growing desire to transition to EVs to save expenses while also reducing carbon emissions.
"By leveraging our EV fleet management technology and innovative partner solutions, we aim to create a more efficient, sustainable and customer-centric delivery experience," said Tushar Mehta, co-founder and COO of Zypp Electric.
He stated that Zypp is seeking to expand into other regions and promote growth, and that "our approach will empower gig workers and provide them with exciting earning opportunities." Around 50 companies, including aggregators and e-commerce platforms, are currently served by the e-mobility platform.
"This association will enable us to significantly reduce carbon emissions and bring more sustainable last-mile delivery options to our customers. We look forward to working together to create more efficient and environment friendly deliveries," said Zomato COO Mohit Sardana.
