April 14 TDS Deadline: Last Day to Issue TDS Certificates; What Deductors Must Do Next by April 30

Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) deductors have several important compliance tasks lined up in April 2026. From issuing certificates to depositing tax and filing statements, timely completion of these steps is essential to avoid penalties and ensure smooth credit for taxpayers.

April 14 TDS Deadline: Last Day to Issue TDS Certificates for February Transactions

One of the first key deadlines this month is April 14, by which deductors must issue TDS certificates for transactions carried out in February 2026. This applies to sections such as 194-IA, 194-IB, 194M and 194S (for specified persons) under the Income-tax Act.

To generate these certificates, deductors need to log in to the TRACES portal, go to the TDS certificate section, and select the relevant financial year and form (such as Form 16B, 16C or 16D). After downloading, it is important to carefully check details like PAN, deducted amount and challan linkage before sharing the certificate with the taxpayer.

These certificates serve as proof of tax deduction and are crucial for individuals while filing their income tax returns and claiming credit.

April 30 Deadline for TDS Deposit

The next major compliance requirement is depositing TDS for March 2026 transactions. For non-government deductors, the deadline for this is April 30, 2026.

How to Deposit TDS by April 30: Understand Challan ITNS 281

The payment can be made through the income tax e-filing portal by generating a challan using ITNS 281. Deductors must ensure that the correct assessment year and nature of payment are selected. Payments can be completed via net banking or authorised bank channels, and accurate entry of challan details is essential for proper reconciliation later.

Filing of Challan-Cum-Statements Also Due by April 30

In addition to depositing TDS, deductors must also file challan-cum-statements for March transactions under the same sections (194-IA, 194-IB, 194M and 194S).

This process is carried out on the TRACES portal, where transaction-level details such as PAN, deduction amount and date must be entered. The challan details should match the payment made. Once submitted online, an acknowledgement can be downloaded for records.

TDS Deadlines in April 2026: Check Key Dates To Avoid Penalties

Apart from TDS-related tasks, there are a few additional reporting requirements to keep in mind:

April 15: Stock exchanges and recognised associations must submit statements related to client code modifications for March 2026.

April 15: Authorised dealers are required to file Form 15CC for quarterly reporting of foreign remittances.

April 30: Government offices need to file Form 24G in cases where TDS is paid without a challan.

April 30: Form 61 must be submitted for declarations received in Form 60 between October 2025 and March 2026.

With multiple deadlines clustered in April, deductors should plan ahead and complete each requirement on time. Ensuring accurate filings and timely submissions not only helps avoid penalties but also ensures that taxpayers can seamlessly claim their TDS credits.
