Bank Holiday Today: Are SBI, HDFC, ICICI, Other Banks Closed On June 15, 2026? YMA Day To Raja Sankranti
Banks in some cities are closed in India today due to two separate occasions. Firstly, the Mizoram people are commemorating YMA Day and Odisha citizens celebrating Raja Sankranti festival on Monday, June 15, 2026. However, bank holidays will vary from city to city. Hence, SBI, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Punjab National Bank, and Bank of Baroda will be open in majority of cities in India but closed in some cities depending upon the festival.

The June 2026 holidays list by RBI reveals that banks in some cities will be closed on June 15 due to the celebration of Raja Sankranti and YMA Day. These cities are Aizawl and Bhubaneswar. This makes June 15th the first special holiday of the month for banks.
YMA Day 2026:
YMA Day is of great significance for people of Mizoran. YMA stands for Young Mizo Association and is the largest non-profit, secular and non-government organization. It was established on June 15, 1935. Since then, Mizo people have been celebrating and honoring this day.
Raja Sankranti 2026:
Raja Sankranti is an agriculture-oriented festival, mainly observed in the coastal districts of Odisha for three days. The last day of the month of Jestha is known as Pahili Raja, and the first day of the month of Asadha is Raja Sankranti. Even in some places in Odisha, the fourth day of the Raja festival is also celebrated as Basumata Puja. During this festival, Earth, or "Basu Mata," is considered to be a menstruating woman. Hence, digging soil or tempering it in any way is strictly prohibited. Mother Earth is said to undergo pollution due to menstruation and is given rest just like a woman, imposed with several restrictions, as per Odisha Tour.
What Is Closed During Bank Holidays?
Branch services will not be available during any sort of bank holidays. These include:
1. Withdrawing or depositing cash over the counter at a bank branch.
2. You will not be able to open a new account or close an existing one which requires visit to the bank. You can do this on May June 16.
3. You will not be able to apply for loans or credit cards in person.
4. Also, you will not be able to update or apply for new passbook in person.
5. You will not be able to carry high worth transactions in India and remittance as they require you to visit the branches.
6. It needs to be noted that NEFT, IMPS and RTGS services carried online is available 24x7 irrespective of bank holiday or not. However, NEFT or RTGS requests made at bank branches will follow branch holiday schedules.

1. You can carry any online transaction hassle-free.
2. ATM services are available 24x7 as well.
3. You can view your balance, history of transactions, and pay bills seamlessly online.
4. Also, transfer or receiving of funds is available online.
