Bank Holidays 2025: Why Are Banks Closed For Five Days In A Row Till September 7? Onam To Eid E Milad

Banks in India are scheduled for a long weekend, to be precisely, a five-day holiday in a row has been scheduled from September 3rd to September 7th. However, it needs to be noted that bank holidays in the country vary from state to state. Major events like Onam, Eid-e-Milad and Ganesh Visarjan are lined up for celebrations.

These bank holidays fall under the Negotiable Instruments Act and are decided by the Reserve Bank of India.

Bank Holiday On September 3:

Banks were closed in cities like Ranchi due to the celebration of Karma Puja.

Bank Holiday On September 4:

Meanwhile, banks will be closed in cities like Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi due to the celebration of Onam's main festival, Thiruvonam.
