Bank Holidays 2026: SBI, HDFC, ICICI, Other Banks Closed For 4 Days From July 6-11; Check City-Wise List

Indian scheduled banks are expected to have a four-day holiday in the week starting from July 6th to July 11th. There are two special holidays for MHIP Day, the birth anniversary of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, and Beh Deinkhlam. While banks will be closed for the second Saturday and Sunday. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) decides holidays for all banks in India depending upon the state, festivals, and regional cultures. Hence, bank holidays vary from city to city.

Bank Holiday On July 6, 2026

Banks will be closed on Monday, July 6th for MHIP Day and the birth Anniversary of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee. However, banks will be closed in cities like Aizawl and Kolkata. Banks will be opened in other cities accordingly.

Bank Holiday On July 11 & July 12

Banks will be closed on Juy 11th and 12th as they are second Saturday and Sunday.

As per the guidelines, banks are open on two Saturdays and closed on two Saturdays of every month. All Sundays are bank holidays, though. The only two Saturdays when banks are closed are the second and fourth of every month. If there are five Saturdays in a month, then the last fifth Saturday is a working day for banks.

Therefore, all banks-whether private, public, cooperative, regional or foreign-are closed on these two days. These also include major banks like SBI, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, IndusInd Bank, Punjab National Bank (PNB) and Bank of Baroda, among others.

On the second and fourth Saturdays, several payments system will not be operational. These typically include Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS), National Electronic Fund Transfer (NEFT), and Cheque Clearing operated by various Bankers' Clearing Houses in the country, including the grid-based Cheque Truncation System (CTS) and ECS suite [Electronic Clearing Service (ECS), Regional Electronic Clearing Service (RECS) and National Electronic Clearing Service (NECS)].
