Should You Buy BEL Shares Ahead Of the Dividend Record Date?

"We believe BHE continues to play with its core strengths—diversified exposure across the Army, Navy, and Air Force, which provides stability in execution and limits concentration risks, along with a steady move up the value chain," said analysts at Choice Institutional Equities in a note.

In their opinion, this should support margin structurally. At the same time, bets on drones, EW, and exports provide incremental growth optionality. Overall, the analysts continue to like the medium-term growth story, with near-term volatility (margin/order inflows) likely to persist, but the earnings trajectory remains intact.

On the valuation, Choice's analysts said, "We maintain our positive stance on BHE, underpinned by its robust long-term growth visibility, supported by a healthy order book and strong order pipeline. Reiterating our 'BUY' rating with a TP of Rs 500, we value it at 40x of FY28E EPS."

Another brokerage has also given BUY but with a lower target price. Analysts at JM Finance benchmarked BEL against a basket of capital goods stocks on growth and RoE outlook (based on Bloomberg consensus estimates) and thus arrived at a target PE of 44x (unchanged) based on average PE implied by its RoE and EPS growth outlook.

They maintained a BUY rating but with a target price of Rs 485. Key risks to JM's view include any delay in fructification of the QRSAM order, slowdown in defence electronics spend, and weakness in EBITDA margin.
