Bumper Hike In FD Rates: Not SBI Or HDFC Bank, But This NBFC Hikes FD Interest Rates By 45 Bps: Top Rate 7.75%
Amidst repo rate pauses, one specific financial services provider has announced a bumper hike in fixed deposits rates with effect from May 1, 2026. This one is neither largest banks like SBI or HDFC Bank but the largest NBFC, Bajaj Finance. From May onward, Bajaj Finance increased its FD rates by 45 basis points. Senior citizens get the highest rate of 7.75%. What makes Bajaj Finance's FD rates even more attractive is the rating on its FD scheme which is AAA/Stable rated.
Bajaj Finance FD Rates Hike May 2026:

After the latest hike, Bajaj Finance is offering 7.75% rate to senior citizens. Meanwhile, general category individuals will get up to 7.40% rate per annum for 12-months to 17-months tenure.
The deposit amount is minimum Rs 15,000 to Rs 3 crore.
Bajaj Finance is giving up to 0.35% extra rate to senior citizens. While its FD scheme is rated as CRISIL AAA/STABLE and [ICRA] AAA (STABLE).
The NBFC has also increased its tenures for citizens. For instance, Bajaj Finance is offering 7.20% rate to senior citizens on tenures of 18 months to 30 months, which is higher from earlier tenure of 15-23 months. Also, the rate of FD is up by 10 basis points for 18-30 months tenure.
Furthermore, the NBFC is offering 7.75% rate to senior citizens, higher by 45 basis points from earlier FD rate. The tenure for this rate is increased to 31 months to 60 months from earlier 24-60 months.
To general category investors, Bajaj Finance is offering 6.85% rate on tenures of 18-30 months, which is higher by 10 basis points. The old tenure was 15-23 months.
Meanwhile, the highest rate to general category is of 7.40%, which is up by 45 basis points from previous rates. The new tenure for 7.40% rate is increased to 12 months to 17 months from earlier 12 months to 14 months.
