The Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has started updating member accounts earlier than usual this year. The 8.25% interest for the financial year 2024-25 is now being added to most accounts.
"Over 96.51% of EPF accounts have already received the interest. The rest are expected to be updated by the end of this week," said Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on 8th July.

This year, EPFO had to update accounts for 13.88 lakh companies and 33.56 crore accounts. As of July 8, interest has been added to 32.39 crore accounts, covering 99.9% of companies and 96.51% of total accounts, according to PTI report.
The government approved the 8.25% interest rate on May 22, and EPFO began updating accounts from June 6. Mandaviya also said that, "this year's update was much faster, last year it began in August and ended in December, but this year it was mostly done in June."
