EPFO Makes PF Transfers Easier for Job Switchers; Members Can Now Download Annexure K Directly from Portal

The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has made a major change to ease the process of transferring Provident Fund (PF) balances between employers. As of September 18, 2025, a circular from the Union Labour Ministry allows members to download Annexure K in PDF format directly from the EPFO Member Portal , a document previously available only upon request or through inter‑office transfers.

EPF Account Transfer: Know About EPF Annexure K

Annexure K is a transfer certificate issued when an employee moves from one job to another. It contains important details such as PF balance with accrued interest, service history, date of joining, date of exit, and employment details including the Member IDs (MIDs) of both past and present PF accounts. This document is essential for the Field Office or PF Trust to process the PF transfer.

Previously, employees changing jobs had to depend on their former PF office to issue Annexure K and send it to the new PF office, often after delays. Under the new rule, members will not have to wait for manual processing. They can now track transfer applications online and download Annexure K themselves, which helps with confirming that their PF balances and service periods are recorded accurately during transfers.

How to Access Annexure K To Transfer Your EPF Account While Changing Job?

EPFO members can take these steps to use the new facility:

  • Log in to the EPFO Member Portal with your credentials.
  • Go to Online Services
  • Track Claim Status.
  • Find the relevant PF transfer claim.
  • Click on Download Annexure K (PDF).
  • Save the document for future reference.

It will contain the member information, service history, balance with interest, and exit/joining dates.

Other EPFO Reforms Introduced: Passbook Lite and More

Passbook Lite: EPFO has launched a "Passbook Lite" feature in its Member Portal, giving users a summary view of contributions, withdrawals, and current balances without needing to use the separate passbook portal.

Single Login & Rationalised Approval Hierarchy: The new rules also include enabling all key EPFO services under a single login and simplifying the approval hierarchy (delegating powers previously held by senior officers to Assistant PF Commissioners and subordinate levels) to speed up claims, transfers, refunds, etc.
