FASTag Annual Pass From August 15: Check New Prices, Activation, Key Changes & How To Apply?

Starting August 15, 2025, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways will introduce a FASTag annual pass for frequent highway users. Priced at Rs 3,000, this pass allows up to 200 toll-free trips or one year of validity on National Highways and Expressways. Activation is available through the Rajmargyatra app or NHAI website, specifically for private cars, jeeps, and vans.

The FASTag annual pass aims to provide significant savings for regular commuters by replacing multiple toll payments with a single yearly fee. It is designed to offer convenience and cost-effectiveness for those who frequently travel on highways. The pass will be effective from August 15, 2025.

Activation Process and Eligibility

To activate the annual pass, users must verify their vehicle's eligibility and associated FASTag. After successful verification, a payment of Rs 3,000 is required for the base year 2025-26 via the Rajmargyatra mobile application or NHAI website. Once payment is confirmed, activation typically occurs within two hours.

The annual pass covers only National Highway (NH) and National Expressway (NE) fee plazas. At other locations like State Highways or local body-managed areas, the FASTag functions as a regular tag with applicable charges. The pass offers free passage for private cars, jeeps, and vans at designated fee plazas.

Validity and Usage Details

The annual pass remains valid for one year from activation or until 200 transactions are completed, whichever comes first. Upon reaching either limit, it reverts to a regular FASTag. Users wishing to continue benefits must reactivate the pass for another set of trips or year.

This pass is exclusively available for private non-commercial vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans after verification through the VAHAN database. Commercial vehicle usage leads to immediate deactivation without notice.

Understanding Trip Counts

Each crossing at point-based fee plazas counts as one trip under the annual pass. A round trip constitutes two trips. For closed tolling fee plazas, one entry-exit pair counts as a single trip.

Frequent travelers should ensure timely activation of their passes as only a few days remain before its rollout. This initiative promises ease and savings for those regularly commuting on national highways.

The introduction of this annual pass marks a significant step towards simplifying toll payments for frequent highway users in India. By offering an affordable solution with extensive coverage on major routes, it caters to the needs of regular commuters efficiently.
