1. LPG Price Revisions in September 2025

Households should be prepared for changes in LPG prices in September 2025 as the government revises cylinder costs based on global crude oil rates on the 1st of every month. The new LPG cylinder price could either increase or decrease, affecting everyday fuel expenses.

2. GST Reforms Expected

The 56th GST Council meeting will be held in New Delhi on 3rd and 4th September 2025. Some major decisions are expected, including potential GST slab reductions, possibly moving from four slabs to two (5% and 12%). The GST reform is expected to lower taxes on essential goods and services, directly benefiting consumers across India.

3. Income Tax Filing Deadline

Taxpayers who don't need an audit must file their Income Tax Return (ITR) for 2025-26 by 15th September 2025. Missing the deadline can lead to penalties and interest. It's best to file early to avoid last-minute problems on the Income Tax e-filing website.

4. Jan Dhan Account Re-KYC Compliance

Jan Dhan account holders must complete re-KYC compliance by September 30, 2025. Ignoring bank reminders could restrict account usage, affecting withdrawals, subsidy transfers, and other services. Public sector banks are conducting re-KYC camps at the panchayat level, and many banks also offer doorstep or online re-KYC facilities.

5. SBI Card Changes and Reward Structure Updates

From 1st September 2025, SBI Card customers will notice changes to reward points. As per the company's update, holders of the Lifestyle Home Centre SBI Card, SELECT, and PRIME variants will not earn rewards any more on digital gaming and government payments. Additionally, complimentary air accident insurance for several co-branded cards, covering Rs. 50 lakh to Rs. 1 crore, has been discontinued.

6. India Post Restructuring

From 1st September 2025, India Post will merge registered post with speed post for all domestic deliveries to improve efficiency and offer faster deliveries with better tracking.

7. Aadhaar Compliance Deadline

In order to keep Aadhaar information accurate and updated, the Govt has notified citizens that they must update their Aadhaar details by 31st August 2025. If someone fails to comply, they will be fined Rs. 1,000.

8. SEBI Expiry Days Shift

The stock market derivatives contract expiry days are being reshuffled. From September 2025, NSE contract expiries will fall on Tuesdays, while BSE expiries will shift to Thursdays, affecting traders and investors who track derivatives expiry dates.

9. Silver Hallmarking

Mandatory silver hallmarking will be introduced in September 2025, similar to gold hallmarking, to ensure purity and authenticity in silver items.

10. ATM Withdrawal Fees Increase

Banks are set to increase ATM cash withdrawal charges for transactions exceeding prescribed limits to encourage digital payments and reduce cash usage. This might impact those who frequently withdraw cash from ATMs.
