Gas Cylinder Booking Rules In June 2026; 5 Big Changes In Indane, HP, Bharat Gas; LPG Refill Rules Unchanged;
LPG gas cylinder booking rules see a significant shift in June 2026, especially for customers who hold dual connections of cooking gas. However, amidst this, the government has clarified that there will be no change in the refilling lock-in period of Indane Gas, Bharat Gas and HP Gas. The chances of you losing your LPG connection, though, are high if you have obtained a PNG connection as well. Hence, here are five big changes that you should know before buying gas cylinders in June 2026.
Gas Cylinder Booking 25-Days, 45-Days Or 35-Days?

Ahead of the June 2026 month, the government clarified over social media posts and reports that claimed the LPG refill rules are likely to be revised for customers who hold Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) connections.
However, the Oil Ministry shunned these media claims and social media posts, stating that "no such changes have been made."
The ministry reiterated that existing refill booking timelines remain unchanged and continue to be 25-days, 45-days and 35-days depending upon your locality.
This means, 25-days rule for refilling LPG remains unchanged for rural areas, while 45-days rules will remain intact for urban areas.
Also, the government has clarified that claims of new timelines as 25-days refill gap for non-PMUY single-bottle connections and 35-days refill timeline for non-PMUY double-bottle connections --- are untrue.
Apart from this, here are five big changes to know before booking your LPG in June 2026:
1. Indane Gas, Bharat Gas, HP Gas Connections To Be Cut In June 2026?
Due to the intensifying war in West Asia, in late March, the Oil Ministry made it mandatory for customers to switch to PNG within a three-month time span if they have the PNG-infrastructure in their locality. If they fail to do so, their LPG connections will be cut automatically.
Among major reasons behind the decision is to ensure dependency on LPG is reduced, to tackle black marketing and hoarding, and to distribute LPG to those households that have no PNG-infrastructure.
Hence, if you have a PNG facility in your area, you are required to switch to piped gas instead of gas cylinders. The three-month deadline is expected to end in June 2026.
2. One Household, One Gas Connection
Additionally, the oil marketing companies are pushing for the 'One Household, One Gas Connection' rule with both LPG and PNG connections. The OMCs have directed customers to switch and surrender LPG connections for PNG wherever possible.
Notably, OMCs have already started to identify customers with both LPG and PNG connections. These customers are receiving messages to surrender their LPG connection and switch to only on PNG.
3. PNG Customers Banned From New LPG
PNG customers are barred from applying for a new LPG connection or refilling their LPG cylinders. This is to curb the LPG supply shortage.
4. Terminate LPG Connection After Getting PNG In 30 Days
On May 25, the government revised its Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Amendment Order, 2026. The amendment aims to provide additional relaxation and convenience to domestic LPG consumers who subsequently obtain Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections.
Under the new rule, the moment you obtain PNG connections, you will have 30 days' time to terminate your LPG connections.
Since customers are asked to terminate their LPG connection within 30 days of getting PNG, the government has announced a provision that allows these customers to restore their LPG connection.
5. OTP-Mandatory For LPG Delivery
Also, the government has made OTP-based LPG delivery mandatory. If you do not get an OTP on your registered mobile number, you will not receive the delivery of LPG. This is aimed at transparency in delivery and curbing black marketing.
Subsequently, other LPG booking rules include online push. Since the US-Israel-Iran war started, the oil ministry has urged Indian households to book their LPG digitally rather than standing in long queues. The latest data showed that online LPG cylinder bookings increased to about 99% on an industry basis.
Last but not least, the government has encouraged citizens to use alternative options to LPG . These are PNG, electric or induction cooktops, kerosene and coals, among others.
