Gas Cylinder Booking Rules: New Advisory On LPG Delivery Authentication Code For Indane, Bharat Gas, HP Gas
Oil marketing companies like BPCL have issued a new advisory in regard to LPG cylinder delivery. BPCL stated it launched the DAC (Delivery Authentication Code) facility for commercial deliveries to ensure cylinders reach the correct customer securely. This is called OTP-based delivery and it is mandatory for customers. If you do not have an OTP on your registered mobile number during the delivery of Indane Gas, BharatGas and HP Gas, your LPG delivery will be cancelled.

HPCL Advisory On OTP-Based LPG Delivery:
Last month, HPCL warned customers that scammers may try to imitate LPG delivery messages but knowing what an authentic HP Gas message looks like can help you stay protected.
HPCL said, before sharing your Delivery Authentication Code, always verify:
- The message comes from the official sender name: VM-HPGASc-S
- It contains a 4-digit OTP
- It is used only at the time of cylinder delivery
"Remember, HP Gas representatives will never ask for OTPs over phone calls, WhatsApp messages, or suspicious links," HPCL said.
Why Is A Delivery Authentication Code Important For LPG Delivery?
The main goal is to ensure that genuine customers receive their LPGs. It is to eliminate black marketing and hoarding while maintaining transparency in gas cylinder delivery. The Oil Ministry has already announced a new rule: without an OTP, LPG delivery will not be possible.
Earlier in May, Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, emphasized OTP-based delivery as a priority to avoid mishandling of LPG cylinders and ensure transparency.
According to Sharma, to prevent diversion, an OTP-based LPG delivery system has been implemented. In this process, the OTP is sent only to the consumer's registered mobile number. Therefore, if the consumer does not share this code with anyone else, it remains secure and cannot be accessed by any other individual.
