Gas Cylinder E-KYC Deadline Is Tomorrow: 5 Rules To Know For Indane Gas, HP Gas, Bharat Gas Before August 16

The LPG biometric Aadhaar authentication deadline is arriving on August 16. If Indian households have not done e-KYC, then Sunday is the last date to do so. E-KYC is compulsory for all types of gas cylinders such as Indane Gas, Bharat Gas, and HP Gas.

Here are 5 points to know:

1. Gas Cylinder E-KYC Deadline Is August 16

An Indian Oil message said, "Dear customer, you are required to do e-KYC for receiving LPG cylinder at domestic rates. Despite earlier reminders, you have not done your e-KYC so far. You can do e-KYC at your home through IndianOil ONE App or at your distributor or through the delivery personnel. Failure to do e-KYC by 16.08.26 would make you ineligible for cylinders at domestic rates till e-KYC is completed. Kindly complete your e-KYC at the earliest."

Aadhaar-based biometric e-KYC has been mandatory since March 2026 in wake of US-Israel-Iran war. The e-KYC process is not required if you have already done it. The Oil Ministry earlier clarified e-KYC is required for those customers who have not done it so far.

2. Will Your LPG Connection Get Suspended If E-KYC Not Done?

The BPCL notice indicates that if you missed the e-KYC deadline in August, your LPG cylinder connection will be temporarily suspended until the e-KYC is completed. But your connection will not be cancelled.

Hence, to avoid temporary suspension, you must complete your e-KYC before the deadline.

3. What Happens If You Miss LPG E-KYC Deadline On August 16?

As per reports, if missed the deadline, you might have to pay commercial rates at your LPG cylinders.

To put in perspective, for August 2026, domestic LPG gas cylinders, which are 14.2 Kg in size, are priced at Rs Rs 942 in Delhi, Rs 968 in Kolkata, Rs 941.50 in Mumbai, and Rs 957.50 per cylinder in Chennai.

The commercial LPG rates stand at Rs 2,738 in Delhi, at Rs 2,691.50 in Mumbai, at Rs 2,872.50 in Kolkata and at Rs 2,906 in Chennai. In some cities, a commercial LPG cylinder is above Rs 3,000 mark. These are the rates of the 19 Kg LPG cylinders.

Failure to complete e-KYC could mean you are paying above Rs 2,000 for 14.2 Kg domestic LPG cylinders. These are speculations, and GoodReturns cannot confirm the same.

4. Will LPG Cylinder Refilling Be Impacted If Missed August 16 E-KYC Deadline?

Various media reports have stated that customers who have not completed their e-KYC are already facing the impact way before the August 16 deadline. Some customers are not getting their LPG refills delivered, while some are not able to apply for new LPG connection.

If you are a customer who has not completed their e-KYC and is facing refill or connection issue, it is advisable to complete your e-KYC first. OMCs like BPCL reportedly warned of temporary suspension to LPG connections if e-KYC is not done before the deadline. The customers can get their connections back once the process is completed.

However, if you continue to face such issues, all three OMCs have helpline numbers where you can file a complaint.

5. Why LPG E-KYC Is Important?

There are several reasons for e-KYC. Firstly, e-KYC would confirm that genuine customers hold LPG connections. This helps in identifying duplicate and potential frauds related to LPG cylinder deliveries.

Also, Aadhaar-based authentication protects subsidy benefits for PMUY beneficiaries via direct transfer benefits (DBT).

Overall, e-KYC is meant to protect customers and to tackle black hoarding or any misuse.

There are several methods to complete e-KYC. Indian households can do so via official apps of Indian Oil, HPCL and BPCL. Further, they can complete their e-KYC on AadhaarFaceRD application, official websites or simply by visiting the LPG distributors.
