Gas Cylinder New Rules: How 25-Day, 45-Day Refill & 30-Day LPG Termination Rules Impact Indane, HP, Bharat Gas
Gas Cylinder New Rules: Oil marketing companies and the government have revised the LPG cylinder booking rules over the past five months significantly. From LPG refilling and booking to surrendering, a host of rules have been imposed for households and commercial cooking gas, including piped natural gas (PNG). However, there are certain interval days that citizens must not miss out upon for seamless booking or termination of Indane Gas, HP Gas and Bharat Gas. These intervals are called 25-day, 30-day and 45-day; all three rules apply to different types of customers. Let's understand these rules and documents required for each of them.

The 25-day and 45-day rules apply to two types of customers for both Indian households and commercial sector usage.
These days are booking intervals for LPG cylinders, either domestic LPGs such as 5 Kg, 10 Kg and the most widely used 14.2 Kg cylinders. The rules apply for 19 Kg LPG cylinders as well despite the government removing all sectoral restrictions on the supply of non-domestic packed LPGs.
That being said, the 25-day rule applies to urban area customers for refilling LPGs, while the 45-day rule is applicable for rural area customers.
This means that the next LPG can be refilled only after 25-days for urban customers and 45-days for rural customers from the previous refill delivery or first LPG booking. This is applicable across Indane, HP Gas and Bharat Gas.
Gas Cylinder Termination Rule Of 30-Days:
The 30-day rule was imposed in late May, after the government revised its Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Amendment Order, 2026, making it mandatory for LPG customers to terminate their Indane, Bharat Gas and HP Gas connections within 30 days from getting their PNG connections.
Since customers are asked to terminate their LPG connection within 30 days of getting PNG, the government has announced a provision that allows these customers to restore their LPG connection.
The new rule guides customers to obtain a transfer voucher that can be used in future for restoring LPG connection when shifting to a non-PNG area.
