Gas Cylinder Rules: What Charges To Claim For Indane, HP, BharatGas Surrender? 25-Days, 30-Days, 45-Days Limit

There are various rules imposed for booking LPG cylinders since the West Asia conflict. Among them, the major rules are of 25-days, 45-days and 30-days, which are related to both LPG and PNG connections. The government has given an ultimatum to citizens to switch to PNG if they have the infrastructure, or else their LPG connection will be suspended. In the latest rules, the government and OMCs are promoting switching to PNG and surrendering your Indane, Bharat Gas and HP Gas connections. However, there is relief too in some of the rules.

Gas Cylinder Booking 25-Day & 45-Day Rules:

The first major rule was extending the booking intervals for LPG cylinder refills. Earlier, it took a 21-day booking interval for buying LPGs. Now, the days have been extended!

25-Day LPG Refill Rule: For customers in urban areas, the booking interval gap is 25-days from the date of the first purchase of LPGs.

45-Day LPG Refill Rule: This rule is applicable only to those customers who reside in rural areas. So, if you bought your first LPG lets's say on June 18, 2026, you will have to wait at least 45-days for booking the refill of LPG cylinders.

LPG-PNG Connection Rule Of 30-Days:

This is a new rule and was announced in late May 2026. The government has simply asked customers to surrender their LPG connections within 30 days from the time of getting PNG connections. This means the government has banned dual cooking gas connections in one household. It has been strictly ordered that one household will have one gas connection, either LPG or PNG. However, PNG customers are banned from applying to new LPG connections or refilling their current LPG cylinders. Also, LPG connections will be suspended in a specified time schedule if customers do not switch to PNG despite having PNG infrastructure in their residency.

There is a relief too. The latest rule enables customers to apply for a transfer voucher for restoring their LPG connections once they move out from their PNG-household to a non-PNG area.

But before surrendering LPGs, you must ensure you reclaim your security deposits.
