Gas Cylinder Rules Deadline On June 30: What Will End For Indane Gas, HP Gas, Bharat Gas? e-KYC To LPG Refills

The rules for booking Indane Gas, HP Gas and Bharat Gas have changed over the past few months since the US-Israel-Iran war escalated in 2026. Now, the timeline for refilling LPG cylinders is 25-days to 45-days from earlier 21-days, while the government and oil marketing companies are pushing for switching to piped natural gas (PNG) as a mode of cooking. However, reportedly, two key rules is like to impact how you book LPGs, as the deadline is June 30, 2026.

E-Kyc Mandatory For Booking LPG Cylinders

Amidst the LPG supply shortage due to the West Asia crisis, the government made it compulsory for Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) beneficiaries to do an Aadhaar-based authentication.

The new rule directed that e-KYC is mandatory to those LPG customers who have not completed the process so far. If you are a non-PMUY customer and have done it before, then you are not required to do the LPG biometric Aadhaar authentication.

Recently, OMCs like Indian Oil encouraged customers to complete their eKYC by June 30, 2026.

Indian Oil tweeted on June 12, saying, "Complete your eKYC before 30 June 2026. This process is simple, secure, and completely free of cost. You can easily complete it through the IndianOil ONE app, your Indane distributor, or your LPG delivery personnel."

Adding it said, "Get your eKYC done today and keep your LPG subsidy active."

Hence, the chances of your LPG subsidy stopping if eKYC is not done are high.

Indane Gas, Bharat Gas, HP Gas Connection To Be Suspended By June 30, 2026?

As per the new LPG-PNG rules, if you have switched to PNG connections, you must surrender your LPG connections. If PNG infrastructure is available in your locality, you must apply for a PNG connection and then eventually terminate your LPG connection.

If you have both LPG and PNG connections, you are required to give up your Indane Gas, Bharat Gas and HP Gas connections. Hence, the 'No Dual Connection' policy is being practiced.

Also, in March 2026, as per the circular, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas issued new rules for gas cylinder connections. One of them included that any person who has a piped natural gas (PNG) connection and also a domestic LPG connection is prohibited from applying for new LPG connections or banned from LPG refills from any government-backed oil marketing companies or through any distributors.

Simply put, if you have a PNG connection, you cannot apply for new LPG or apply for a refill of LPG.

While banning PNG customers from applying for or refilling LPGs, the government also issued a new order titled Natural Gas and Petroleum Products Distribution (Through Laying, Building, Operation and Expansion of Pipelines and Other Facilities) Order, 2026, on March 24, 2026.

Under the new order, the government fixed a 3-month timeline for LPG customers to switch to PNG connections if PNG infrastructure is available in their locality or area.

The order said LPG supply shall cease if a household does not switch to PNG despite the availability. Any non-compliance could lead to suspension of LPG. This order was announced in March and the timeline to switch to PNG completely was given as 90 days, which ends in June. However, the government has not announced any specific deadline to remove LPG connections.

As per reports, the deadline is expected to end on June 30. However, the government has made no official statement regarding the deadline for ceasing LPG connections if you have not entirely switched to PNG despite having the facility. Hence, this deadline is merely a speculation.

Gas Cylinder Booking Rules:

Other LPG cylinder rules continue to be in place. These include.

1. OTP-based cylinder delivery: Customers must provide a Delivery Authentication Code (OTP) at the time of cylinder delivery.

2. Second cylinder booking restrictions: A second refill generally cannot be booked within 25 days and 45-days of the previous cylinder booking. The 25-day rule is meant for customers in urban areas and the 45-days rule applies to rural area customers.

3. Stricter subsidy verification: Authorities are tightening checks to prevent misuse of LPG subsidies.
