Gas Cylinders Booking Big Change Soon? Will New US-Iran Tensions Push Indane, HP, Bharat Gas LPG Prices Higher
With the new escalation in the US and Iran that tossed away the ceasefire agreement, once again focus has shifted towards LPG gas cylinder prices. The reason is that the renewed geopolitical risks in West Asia have pushed crude oil prices to an elevated level, which is a key component for deriving LPG prices in India. If oil prices continue to rise and a new blockade is imposed at the Strait of Hormuz, the chances of prices of Indane Gas, HP Gas and Bharat Gas spiking further heighten.
Crude Oil Prices Climb!

Following the new airstrikes exchanged between US and Iran, crude oil prices soared nearly 7% since yesterday. US WTI Crude Oil climbed to trade between $74-75 per barrel and Brent Crude soared to near $79 per barrel.
"Crude oil prices remained elevated as renewed US-Iran hostilities intensified concerns over global energy supplies. WTI crude traded above $74 per barrel, while MCX crude eased slightly after surging nearly 6% in the previous session," said Pinky Yadav, Commodity Fundamental Analyst at Choice Broking.
The US said the attacks were intended to reduce Iran's ability to threaten navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, while Tehran vowed a large-scale retaliatory campaign against US military bases across the region. President Donald Trump declared that, in his view, the ceasefire is over and warned of additional military action against Iran, including a new blockade. He also cautioned that oil prices could climb further and said future strikes may target Iran's key export terminal on Kharg Island, as per Trading Economics.
Hence, the new hostilities have heightened fear that it could spark a fresh wave of disruption at global oil supplies, with the Strait of Hormuz once again being at the heart of the conflict. Hormuz is a chokepoint in the Middle East that records at least 20% of the world's oil and gas supply.
If by any chance Hormuz were shut once again, it could leave many commercial vessels stranded, which would further result in a supply crunch. LPG faced a humongous shortage when the war had turned brutal between March and April 2026. Supply crunch could force oil marketing companies to hike LPG prices once again.
But will one day's jump in crude oil prices really impact LPG prices in India ahead?
"There is also a mechanical lag: an oil price jumps the day a route is threatened, but the cost lands only as that crude is bought, shipped and paid for, and foreign investors sell only once the wider deficit and inflation show up in data. So crude relief takes time to translate into rupee strength, while capital-flow and dollar dynamics hit immediately," said Maulik Patel, Head of Research, Equirus Securities.
Hence, whether LPG prices rise in India ahead due to new tensions between US and Iran will be keenly watched.
