HDFC Bank customers pay attention! The private lender is set to revise charges of its Insta Alert SMS charges in May 2026. The new changes are likely to benefit customers and minimise costs for customers who track account activity by text.

HDFC Bank Insta Alert SMS Charges
HDFC Bank is set to reduce its Insta Alert SMS Charges from May 1, 2026. The rate per message will move from 20 paise plus GST to 15 paise plus GST, while email alerts for the same service will stay completely free.

Apart from SMS alert service, the bank has kept email notifications at zero cost, which gives account holders a cheaper way to watch transactions. SMS alert services is an easier way to track bank account updates for customers who are not very tech friendly or do not have constant internet access.
HDFC Bank Revises Insta Alert SMS Charges: How Much It Will Cost To Customers?
As per the revised HDFC Bank Insta Alerts SMS charges structure, customers who opt for text alerts will pay less each month. If customers received 100 SMS alerts, they were required to pay Rs 20 plus GST, at 20 paise per message. From May 1, 2026 onwards, they would be required to pay Rs 15 (plus GST) for 100 SMS, based on the revised rates.
This reduction means a saving of about Rs 5 per month on 100 messages, with higher savings for heavier SMS users. Insta Alerts help customers spot unauthorised activity quickly. Instant notifications allow regular checks on balances, card spends and transfers without visiting a branch or ATM for updates.
HDFC Bank Net Banking: How To Activate Insta Alert Service?
While receiving updates on text for HDFC Bank account transactions, is an easier option, other way to get updates is through alert preferences through NetBanking. To use HDFC Netbanking service, customers are required to login with their ID and password. Follow the below mentioned steps to use HDFC NetBanking service and activate Insta Alert service
-Download HDFC NetBanking application or login to https://netportal.hdfcbank.com
-Enter your customer ID followed by other credentials.
-Once you log in, click on the top right corner and open 'My Profile'.
- Click on Insta Alerts on the top right, choose the relevant account number, select alert categories and then proceed.
-HDFC Bank customers can also use other services like downloading their bank statements, opening RD, fixed deposits and other features.
Those who want to stop particular alerts can also use NetBanking to de-register. After logging in with the customer identification number and NetBanking password, customers must click on "Insta Alerts" on the top right, choose the relevant account number, select alert categories, press 'delete', and then click 'confirm' to finish.
